Samsung has been releasing Jelly Bean update for their Galaxy devices, including their tablet units, but Sony is kind of slow even for their Xperia S Tablet. So XDA developers decided to give the Sony Xperia S Tablet the latest firmware update from Android 4.1.2. Jelly Bean.

Unlike with other update procedure, the Xperia S Tablet upgrade method is not as complicated as it looks. The process has been slashed down and with one simply click, the Xperia S Tablet becomes updated.

Requirements:

  • Make a backup of any data inside your Sony Xperia S Tablet in case of any data loss or corruption. Do not use ROM manager to backup your data or else, the device will be bricked.
  • Enable the USB debugging mode. Go to "Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging."
  • Xperia S Tablet must have at least 40 per cent of battery life to avoid any power interruption during the installation.
  • Double check if the tablet is rooted. This update will only work rooted Sony Xperia S Tablet. If not click here to rooted the device.

Flashing Instructions

1. Connect your Sony Xperia S Tablet to the computer using the USB cable.

2. Open the zip file you have downloaded and follow the instructions displayed on your screen.

3. After the firmware has been updated, the device will automatically reboot.

4. Check the firmware version of your Xperia S Tablet to confirm successful update. Go to "Settings > About Tablet."

In some cases, the device will not boot up or the display the home screen. If so, long press the power button to turn it off and reinstall the firmware again.
