HTC One owners can expect an official Android 4.4 KitKat within 90 days for the original, 30 for Developer edition and 15 for Google Play edition. Know what you will get out the next-generation Android OS version.

HTC on Android 4.4 KitKat

It seems like HTC confirmed their plan with Android 4.4 KitKat software update for the One smartphone as the company already announced a formal expected release date - 90 day countdown.

HTC also confirmed Android 4.4 for the Google Play Edition of One except much faster and set to be out within 15 days. Google Play Edition runs the Vanilla UI of Android OS which makes it easier to get an update.

Jason Mackenzie, President of HTC America, confirmed to Engadget that the company will push out aggressively the latest version of Android OS to HTC One - original, Google Play Edition and Developer Edition.

Original model of HTC One is expected to get the latest firmware within 90 days while the Developer Edition owners can expect it within 30 days.

The remaining SKU or stock keeping unit in North America, including all network carrier variants are going to receive the update within 90 days or less. Android 4.4 KitKat is now official and all of its features have been exposed by Mackenzie hasn't detailed any aspect of what changes owners may expect on the Sense UI 5.5.

Apparently, HTC is still working with a plan regarding update rollouts for other HTC smartphones such as One Max and One Mini with Mackenzie's assurance of an upcoming statement about the future of their mobile devices.
