The HTC Desire 820 comes with a 5.5-inch LCD display packed with 720 x 1,280 pixels screen resolution. The HTC One (M8), on the other hand, features a relatively inferior 5.0-inch Super LCD3 display and 1,080 x 1,920 pixels resolution. In addition, the pixel densities of Desire 820 and One M8 handsets stand at 267 ppi and 441 ppi respectively.
HTC's new Desire 820 is bold, vivid and sleek. HTC has utilised double shot colour technology to get the two-tone colour unibody, in turn enhancing the overall quality and look of the device. Also, the phone's body is made of polycarbonate material, according to HTC. Meanwhile, the HTC One M8 features a brushed metal design enclosed in a wrap-around unibody frame, with rounded corners that fit the hands comfortably. The HTC One (M8) is powered by a superior quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.3 GHz and Adreno 330 for graphics. The Desire 820, on the other hand, is powered by the latest octa-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 615) processor with a combination of four 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 cores and extra four 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 cores, alongside an improved Adreno 405 for graphics. Nevertheless, both the smartphones house the same 2 GB of RAM.
When it comes to the OS, both devices run on Android v4.4.2 KitKat along with HTC Sense v6 UI. However, there is a planned upgrade to v4.4.3 available for HTC One M8. While the HTC Desire 820 offers 16 GB of internal storage, the One M8 comes with 16 GB and 32 GB of storage capacity. Also, both the handsets support microSD card for expansion up to 128 GB.
Camera And Battery
The HTC Desire 820 sports a solid 13 MP rear-facing camera with LED Flash, whereas the HTC One (M8) features a unique 4 UltraPixels primary unit with dual-LED (dual tone) flash. The One M8 comes equipped with 2 lenses (Duo Camera) to capture crystal-clear images. In addition, the Desire 820 houses a surprisingly good 8 MP front-facing shooter for killer selfies, whereas the One M8 comes with a relatively inferior 5 MP snapper. Although, HTC announced a global release, the release date in the U.S. and Australia are unknown right now. Nevertheless, the HTC Desire 820 will be released in European markets in the following weeks, reports Digital Trends.
