When HTC J Butterfly was released in Japan, gadget reviewers could not get two things out of their mind: one, its 1080p 5-inch display, and two, when could something like the J Butterfly be available in North America? Then rumours on HTC Droid DNA aka Verizon HTC DLX started to surface.

HTC J Butterfly - currently available only in Japan - is believed to be coming to North America with a new name -- HTC Droid DNA aka Verizon HTC DLX. This means more people may soon see a smartphone with 1080p 5-inch display. If this holds true, the standard for video viewing on a mobile device has significantly been raised.

Tech mobile watchers and experts are looking forward to a hands-on encounter with Verizon HTC DLX, the collaborative device of a gadget maker and a carrier.

Verizon and HTC have sent out invitations to a product event in New York City on November 13. The Verizon-HTC collaborative device has been tech rumour fodder for a while now. Event invitations can only imply that North America's HTC J Butterfly is believed to be arriving soon, and it will be called either Droid or DLX.

Here are the rumoured specs of HTC Droid aka Verizon HTC DLX:

- 1080p 5-inch display
- Quad-core processor, possibly 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro
- Android 4.1.1 with Sense 4+
- 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage
- 2,500 mAh non-removable battery
- LTE capable device
- 8MP rear camera

Gadget shoppers who are still on the fence when it comes to their next smartphone or phablet purchase should wait a little while longer. More detailed reviews of the Verizon HTC DLX should be available by mid-November.
