HTC Droid DNA is getting an official Android 4.2 Jelly Bean within a few days before Android 4.4 KitKat update rolls out in 2014.

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update Pressure

Droid DNA finally gets an Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5 update according to HTC with release date as early as tomorrow starting from Verizon Wireless. Back in Sept., HTC scheduled the Droid DNA to receive Android 4.2 Jelly Bean but the company suddenly shifting the firmware for Dec. 2013.

HTC America President Jason Mackenzie hinted the release of Android 4.2 on HTC Droid DNA and a possibility of getting Android 4.3 with Sense 5.5. Unfortunately, the company decided to send Android 4.2 instead before Android 4.4 KitKat schedule in 2014.

HTC Executive Director of Product Management Mohammed Versi announced the technical approval from Verizon Wireless of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Sense 5.0 UI for HTC Droid DNA and could start pushing out to users as early as tomorrow.

Although the information say "as early as tomorrow," Verizon Wireless hasn't directly confirm the release date which may take a few more days before arriving to HTC Droid DNA users.

However, HTC Droid DNA will not get all the amazing features of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and may probably stick with what's important such as OpenGL ES 3.0 and Bluetooth Low Energy but owners can expect major changes with Sense 5.0 UI, replacing the Sense 4.0 version.

Android 4.4 KitKat Scheduled Release

Aside from HTC One, One Maxx and One Mini, the company also included future upgrade plans for HTC Droid DNA with Android 4.4 KitKat by 2014. HTC confirmed the upcoming major update for Droid DNA and recognised the potential of the smartphone.

According to a tweet reply sent by HTC USA, Android 4.4 KitKat for HTC Droid DNA awaits certification from network carriers for it to be pushed to owners. Moreover, HTC America hinted a timeframe that Droid DNA may get its update around the end of Q1 2014.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean isn't confirmed to arrive to Droid DNA but rumours say that HTC may push the firmware before Android 4.4 KitKat by early 2014.
