HTC Droid DNA Getting Android 4.4 KitKat in Q1 2014; HTC One X and One X+ Candidates Too?
Android 4.4 KitKat is confirmed to arrive on HTC Droid DNA by the end of first quarter 2014 with HTC Sense 5.5 UI. Are HTC One and One X+ getting an upgrade too?
HTC Droid DNA Android 4.4 KitKat
HTC is simply waiting for pending certification from network carriers to upgrade Droid DNA smartphone. Android 4.4 KitKat rollout plans included the Droid DNA in addition to highly anticipated upgrade for HTC One Maxx and Mini.
Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean currently runs Droid DNA and still waiting for Android 4.3 upgrade but something may change to skip it directly to Android 4.4. Meaning, it will receive new Android features such as Google service integration, Cloud Print and updated Google Now plus additional enhancements with HTC Sense 5.5 UI that improves HTC Zoe and BlinkFeed.
"No worries! Pending certification from your carrier, we plan to upgrade the Droid DNA to 4.4 by the end of Q1," tweet by HTC USA to twitter user @CleFoodandBrews.
There is no clear announcement if the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware for HTC Droid DNA will become obsolete upon confirmation of an upcoming Android 4.4 KitKat update.
HTC One X and One X+
Two more HTC smartphones might have given new hope with HTC America's announcement of Android 4.4 for Droid DNA. Former flagship smartphones One X and One X+ may receive updates later next year but unclear if 4.3 or 4.4.
HTC made clear priority lanes for HTC One series and Droid DNA on Android 4.4 KitKat but One X and One X+ aren't obsolete in technology. Google's new Android version allows devices with 512 MB of RAM minimum to run and enable owners to access unique features.
