HTC Edge seems to really embody its namesake as the "edgiest" in terms of being the first of its kind quad-core smartphone to launch in the market.

Information about the HTC Edge was recently leaked through Pocketnow and the features of the HTC Edge are indeed impressive as it boasts to be the first to have an Nvidea Tegra 3-powered smartphone. Some people even deemed to label it as "monstrous" given its large capacity and improved technology features.

HTC Edge has a quad core 1.5GHz CPU which would affect internal storage increasing up to 32GB. HTC Edge is 10 mm thick with a 4.7-inch 720HD display, 8MP camera with f/2.2 lens (capable of 1080p videos), HTC Sense interface, Bluetooth radio (version 4.0) and Beats Audio headphones. HTC Edge also offers 21Mbps HSPA network speeds and the possibility of including Sense 4.0 though no 4G LTE was mentioned. HTC Edge would also contain an improved version of HTC content services like the HTC Listen music store, HTC Read bookstore, HTC Play gaming hub, and the HTC Watch movie portal would reportedly offer HD features. It is rumored that the HTC Edge would be the first HTC to have the "Ice Cream Sandwich" as standard.

Looking at the numerous features offered by the HTC Edge, experts say that this is an improved version of the recently released HTC Rezound (only released in the US). The HTC Rezound has similar specifications if compared to HTC Edge in terms of having a gig of RAM, 8MP camera with f/2.2 lens and the Beats audio enhancement package. Despite the similarities in specifications and features, the HTC Edge offers much more in terms of quality and process improvement due to the quad-core specification feature.

Apple has already tapped with the quad-core processor technology through their MacBook line but it is still unknown if they would incorporate the technology in their much anticipated Apple iPhone 5. Rumors are also spreading speculating that Samsung, another valuable player in the smartphone field is planning to launch a quad-core smartphone but no confirmation has been released as of the moment.

HTC Edge is said to be released in latter part of the first quarter or early part of the second quarter next year.
