HTC is rumoured to be working on a new smartphone which is being referred to as "Eye." The rumour about the new HTC smartphone was revealed by popular leaker @upleaks through its Twitter account.

In the previous week, HTC had sent invitations to the media for the Oct 8 "Double Exposure" event that will be held in New York City. However, the invitation did not state which devices will be revealed by the Taiwanese tech giant.

According to Ubergizmo, HTC is most likely working on a selfie phone which will feature a rugged camera. T3 claims that the speculated HTC Eye will be a newer edition of the HTC One M8 smartphone that will feature a stunning camera. Recently, HTC had launched a Windows Phone variant of HTC One M8.

Various tech sites are referring to the upcoming selfie-centric smartphone as HTC One M8 Eye or HTC Eye or HTC One Eye. The rumoured HTC Eye specifications revealed by @upleaks include a 5.2-inch full HD display screen that supports a pixel density of 423ppi.

The device also expected to feature a Snapdragon 801 processor along with Adreno 330 GPU. The camera lens seems to be the main attraction of the HTC One Eye, as it is said to feature a 13MP DuoCamera setup. HTCSource claims the handset will also sport a metal body.

Nothing more is known about the rumoured HTC Eye smartphone. Before the Oct 8 launch event, more leaks are expected to be revealed by @upleaks and other sources. BGR claims that the "Double Exposure" expression in the invitation probably indicates that the handset will feature a Duo Camera.

Meanwhile, according to an Ubergizmo report published in July, the HTC Eye is expected to be made available on AT&T's network. Apart from AT&T, there is no news whether other carriers will be offering the HTC One M8 Eye.

Bloomberg report claims that apart from the HTC Eye, the Taiwanese tech giant is also speculated to be manufacturing a 16MP waterproof camera that will have features like the GoPro. It will come equipped with connectivity features like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to integrate with Android and iOS devices.
