HTC launches Desire S and Wildfire to the Australian Market
HTC launched two new smart phones for the Australian market last night. The Desire S and Wildfire S are HTC's newest smart phones that run on the Android OS. According to current.com the Desire S and Wildfire S are going to be handled exclusively by Telstra. The Desire S will be available for Telstra customers from May 31 and will cost $59 with a Freedom Connect Plan or for a retail price of $648. The Wildfire S will be made available on July 19 and it will cost $360. Telstra has yet to announce the price of the Wildfire S on a plan.
The Desire S is a next gen smart phone and is geared for techies who want a more premium phone experience. The Desires comes with 3.7" touchscreen and a 1 Ghz processor and a 5 mega pixel front and rear camera. The phone's sleek design is gorgeous and the aluminum casing makes it feel solid and natural.
Users who are fond of listening to music on their phones will find the crisp virtual surround sound attractive. The screen resolution has been improved from the original Desire and the 1 Ghz processor makes it more responsive. The battery runs for about 24 hours without recharging. The phone runs on the Gingerbread OS which includes more apps for a truly personalized feel.
If the Desire S is a more high-end smart phone, the Wildfire is a more affordable option. It has a smaller touch screen, only 3.2 inches. It has the same 5 mega pixel camera and a 600 Mhz processor. It is a social media friendly phone with a Facebook 'share experience' and Friend Stream. Users can watch up to 33 TV channels from the Foxtel application. It even has a digital compass just in case you're lost in the wilderness.
