Even though Google has not revealed anything about the next Nexus tablet that is still under the wraps, a new WSJ report claims that HTC is indeed going to build the tablet. According to WSJ, the Taiwanese tech giant is working with Google since quite some time and they were sending their engineers to the Google headquarters for building the new Nexus tablet.

PhoneArena claims that HTC's Oct 8 event will unveil an action camera along with a selfie-centric smartphone. And on Oct 16, the Taiwanese tech company is rumoured to hold a launch event for the Nexus 9 tablet.

HTC's previous attempt in the tablet category was flop. The HTC Flyer that came out in 2012 failed to attract audience and in Oct 2012, the company had announced that won't be selling HTC tablets in the U.S. as reported by PhoneArena.

GSMArena claims in order to avoid monopoly, Google does not want to stick with only one manufacturer for producing its Nexus devices. After the success of smartphones like HTC One and HTC One M8, Google has decided to work with HTC for building its next Nexus tablet even though the company does not have a good track record in building tablets.

It has been reported by NDTV that HTC was approached by Google in the previous year for building a Nexus tablet, but the Taiwanese refused to partner with Google. At that time, HTC was concentrating in marketing its smartphone business.

The first Nexus smartphone called the Google Nexus One was built by HTC and it was received well by the audience. Even though both Google and HTC have refrained from talking on working together on the next Nexus tablet, what Google's spokesperson spoke recently indicates that the rumour may just come true.

Google's spokesperson claims that many industry players are performing quite well in the Android ecosystem. There is enough space for many partners to innovate with Android and gain success.

The rumored technical specifications listed with NDTV indicate that the HTC Nexus 9 tablet will be powered by a 64-bit Nvidia Tegra K1 Denver CPU. It will be running on the latest Android L OS. The 8.9-inch or 9-inch display of HTC Nexus 9 will support quad HD resolution of 144 x 2,560 pixels.
