Smartphones become bigger and bigger these days and phablets has become a huge thing in the market. On the other hand, a new trend has followed the phablet craze - a mini version of flagship smartphones. There have been the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini, Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and HTC One mini among other flagship smartphones mini versions.

Last year, HTC launched three big names in the smartphone industry namely. HTC One, HTC One mini and HTC One Max. The past few weeks, the HTC One 2 (M8) has been heavily rumoured after the series of leaks and photos. Today, new information leaked again. According to the popular leakster who has been correct with his leaks in the past, @evleaks, it appears that HTC will continue to follow the trend of the mini smartphone versions with the highly rumoured HTC One 2 (M8) mini.

@evleaks tweet does not offer much information about what to expect from the mini version of the HTC One 2 (M8), he just said, "0P6B:HTC M8::0P8B:M8 mini". It is still unknown whether or not the HTC One 2 (M8) mini will receive the same treatment as the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact which features almost the same specs as the bigger flagship device.

Thus far, there is no word from HTC about what is in store for us but as Sony raised the bars with the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, there is a possibility that HTC will follow its path as well.

Meanwhile, the HTC One 2 (M8) is rumoured to sport killer specs and features with a Snapdragon 800 SoC processor, 2GB of RAM, 5 inches 1080p resolution display, 16GB expandable memory storage, Ultrapixel camera, Android 4.4 OS and jaw-dropping 2900 mAh battery.

In the event that HTC follows the footsteps of Sony with its flagship, the HTC One 2 (M8) mini could be a trimmed down version with smaller display and slightly lower price tag. But then again, it is way too early to speculate about the HTC One 2 (M8) mini as we have yet to see the HTC next generation flagship smartphone.
