HTC One 2, also known as HTC M8, will have a release date sometime in March, according to reports.

The Inquisitr reported the successor of HTC One will be launched in March. Earlier reports cited HTC One 2 will be launched next month at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Spain from Feb. 24-27. The basis of the rumor is still unknown. However, the company will have to say pass to the trade show and hold its own launching event for its upcoming flagship phone.

Meanwhile, alleged photos of HTC One 2 emerged online and hinted the device will pack a fingerprint scanner. Sonny Dickson, an Aussie tipster, leaked photos of HTC M8. The Australian teen garnered attention and recognition last year after he published leaked photos of Apple components for its iPad line.

Based on the leaked photos, the HTC M8 case features a larger cutout where the camera will probably be placed like in the HTC One. There are two holes on top of the device that is still unknown. It is speculated that these holes are meant for the fingerprint scanner that will be packed in the handset. The component also hinted that a speaker and microphone will also be moved from its original place.

Other sources said HTC will stick with full HD screen panels than go for 2K display like its competitors. HTC has not confirmed anything yet. HTC One 2 is set to pack a 5-inch full HD screen display, ultrapixel rear camera and 2.1 MP front-facing camera, 2 GB RAM, 2,900 mAh battery and Sense 6.0. As for the processor, HTC One 2 will be equipped with quadcore Snapdragon 800 processor and not with the previously rumored Snapdragon 805 chipset.

Some reports suggested HTC One 2 will sport a 6 MP or an 8 MP ultraPixel camera with double lens at the back, a microSD card slot for additional storage and near field communication. Like its predecessors booting Android OS, the handset will run with latest Android 4.4 Kitkat OS and HTC Sense 6.0. Consumers have high expectations toward HTC One 2 as its predecessor is one of the best smartphones released last year.
