HTC One A9 again accused of being a copycat after iPhone ‘lookalike’ controversy
Critics say it looks like two other smartphones
While previous allegations have yet to melt away, HTC is again at the center of another copycat controversy. Critics claim the new HTC One A9 is also a clone of two other phones. Earlier, the Taiwanese multinational company was accused of copying the iPhone 6 with the One A9 but has strongly denied this accusation.
This time, HTC is being accused of borrowing designs from the Lenovo PHAB Plus and Nexus 6P, reports IBNLive. Leaked images of the new One A9 show the HTC phone with a glass-encased camera bar at the back similar to the Lenovo and Nexus handsets.
A close study of the images show the speakers in the One A9 were replaced by a fingerprint sensor, a feature found in Nexus 6P. A recent One A9 commercial bears an uncanny resemblance to Apple’s classic 1984 ad introducing the Mackintosh and has raised many eyebrows. HTC executives, however, claim Apple was the first to copy its metal designs and visible antenna bands.
The flagship HTC One A9 in metal and glass has a smooth texture that feels soft to the touch. Its smooth curves along with packed features absolutely complement each other.
You have options of silver, gold and gray hues to choose from although garnet red is mostly in demand right now. It’s the first phone outside the Nexus line to get Android Marshmallow updates.
The phone’s 5.5-inch HD display screen looks fantastic and is leveraged by 2.2 GHz quad core SoC combined with 2 GB of RAM for power-packed performance, states Phone Arena. Being touted as the latest version of One, the One A9 is an amalgamation of sophisticated design and the latest Android software.
The One A9 was released on Nov. 6 and still evokes an iPhone aura among those the buying public.
