HTC One 2 release date was set on March 25 but the handset was allegedly available in China.

The Taiwanese manufacturer has not released the successor of HTC One yet but a mobilemaker in China already made an alleged clone of the device. Goophone M8 claimed to be based on the upcoming HTC One Up, which is set to be revealed later this month at a launch event in New York.

Goophone M8 features include 5-inch full HD, 1080p display, 1.7 GHz MediaTek MTK6592 octa-Core processor paired with 1 GB RAM, 12.6 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera, 16 GB of internal storage with microSD slot and 2,800 mAh battery.

The clone was disappointing in some aspects as it was rumored that the next generation of HTC One will pack the latest quad core Snapdragon chipset. Also, the clone cannot pull off the dual lens camera that consumers are expecting from the next HTC phone. Unlike the rumors that the HTC One Up will run with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS, the clone runs with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

One of the best things about imitation pieces was the friendly price. The Goophone M8 was available for $229 only. This highly appeals to third-world and emerging markets as an option to the original handset.

HTC already sent out invitations to the members of the press for its launching event on March 25. But consumers already have an idea on what the smartphone will look like as it was leaked in a new teaser trailer.

The company upgraded the overall design and quality of the device. The leaked video hinted the smartphone will come with metal body, which was the previous HTC One was famous for. HTC claimed the metal casing adds strength and durability to the smartphone, according to the video.

Reliable tipster @evleaks leaked alleged photos of HTC One Up. The photos showed a gray HTC One with Verizon branding and a white model labelled with the AT&T logo. Consumers can assume that such models will be coming to the carriers.
