Taiwanese manufacturer HTC Corporation is on a neck-to-neck battle against South Korean multinational conglomerate Samsung as both companies are rumoured to release "Prime" mobile phones in the market by June. So how does HTC One M8 Prime fare against Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime?

Price

According to PC Advisor, Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will cost around £600 or higher when it comes out in the market. This translates to $1,086 or more in Australia. Meanwhile, HTC One M8 Prime will be a few dollars cheaper. PC World mentioned that it will cost around £550-£600 which translates to $905- $1,086 in Australia.

Design

According to a tweet from @evleaks, HTC One M8 Prime will come with a composite of aluminum and liquid silicon casing which is water-resistant. While several online sources mentioned that Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will come with Samsung's first ever metal casing in gold color.

Display

HTC One M8 Prime will be several inches bigger than Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime. Serial tipster @evleaks also stated that HTC One M8 Prime will sport a 5.5-inch screen with 2560 x 1440 pixels screen resolution. On the other hand, leaks from various websites mentioned that Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will come in 5.2-inch display with full high quality 2560 x 1440 pixels screen resolution.

Camera

HTC will also fare better with Samsung when it comes to camera. PC World also stated that HTC One M8 Prime will sport an 18-megapixel duo camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. Meanwhile, PC Advisor cited that that Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will come with a 16- megapixel back camera and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera with optical image stabilization.

Processor

Both smart phones will run on the same 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. However, Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will have Adreno 420 GPU and 32 GB storage capacity which were not mentioned yet in HTC One M8 Prime.

Operating System

PC World also cited that HTC One M8 Prime will have either Android 4.4.2 or Android 4.4.3 although the former is more likely to be used since the normal size HTC phones in the market runs on this OS. This phablet will also come with HTC's Sense 6.5 user interface and will apparently support category 6 LTE which theoretically allows up to 300 mbps download speed. Meanwhile, PC Advisor also mentioned that Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will run on Android 4.4.3 KitKat and will have Samsung's TouchWiz user interface.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will reportedly be unveiled during Samsung's "Tab into Color Galaxy Premiere" event in New York on June 12. HTC One M8 Prime is also rumoured to be released in June but there is no mention yet of specific date.
