HTC One release date has been announced internationally to fall within March 2013. But anxious shoppers may have been worried by reports that supply could fall short due to shortage in UltraPixel camera components. Are Android shoppers in for another Nexus 4 level of waiting?

The Nexus 4 was released in November but supply issues were a big problem until mid-February. Apparently, it was a result of poor demand forecast across the globe. HTC One marketing may have picked a lesson from the Google-LG experience. It is reportedly no longer aiming for a simultaneous international release.

Android Authority cited KGI Securities supply checks records in reporting that less HTC One units will be shipped internationally during the first half of this year. The industry source said the yield rates for producing some of the crucial UltraPixel camera components are only somewhere between 20 and 30 per cent. This is far below the commercial yield standard.

The same Android scoop said HTC will mitigate the impact of the supply issue, but it will not be able to achieve a simultaneous international release. The One will arrive rather late in Singapore or Taiwan. In China and Japan, the HTC One could arrive one or two months later. But in Australia and the UK, pre-orders are already being taken for a March delivery.

HTC One's UltraPixel camera is one of its prized features. The UltraPixel light sensors take in about 300% more light, which makes for a great low light photo gadget. The new HTC flagship sports a 4.7-inch Super LCD 3 capacitive touchscreen display (1920 x 1080 pixels). It is fueled by one of the latest from Qualcomm, the 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor. The power-packed phone will run on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

In Australia HTC One pre-orders is possible with Mobicity for $759. HTC One X (White) remains as Kogan's top HTC phone at $439. Those who have already pre-ordered for HTC One are hoping to receive their phones within March, as promised. Here is another outstanding Android phone that sparked so much hype and should be tested by actual users right away.
