HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4 and Nexus 5 Update: Android 4.5 and Android 5.0 in the Works
HTC has started competing in the "smart" market. It began releasing products challenging some of the biggest names in the industry including Samsung and Apple. Similar to other manufacturers, the company will also be rolling out another major update to its devices, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Nonetheless, according to a recognised HTC modder, the market will see more from HTC including devices running on Android 4.5 and Android 5.0.
According to LlabToofer, a well-known HTC-based developer, HTC will be receiving another major update soon. Similar to how the Nexus 5 shipped with the Android 4.4 KitKat, the developer says HTC may release an HTC One series running Android 4.5 or Android 5.0. There is also the Sense 6 to watch out for.
The HTC One runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Sense 5.5 currently. HTC One variants running Sense 5.5 are often international models. There are no details yet about what the Sense 6 and next Android update will. There is little information about the content of these platforms, but reports say they are in the works already.
The HTC Ones referred are the standard models and not the developer and Google Play editions. HTC has not confirmed any of the final details. However, looking at the track record of LlabTooFeR, there should be enough bases to say that HTC One will feature a new Android OS and Sense 6 soon.
Owners of HTC One, including those working with carrier-based models in the United States, may expect the Android 4.4.2 KitKat to roll out around the latter part of January or early February. HTC has confirmed the rollout date a couple of times already. The company has also confirmed the Sense 5.5 update.
HTC One models in the United States did not get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Sense 5.5 like other international variants. The trade-off, on other hand, meant that HTC Ones in the United States will get the first bump to the Android 4.4.2 KitKat series.
People should wait for more announcements from HTC to know when they can update.
As manufacturers and Google start rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, there have been talks about Android 5.0 in the works already. Prior to the release of Android 4.4 KitKat, there was general consensus about the release of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. This year may see that materialise. People should stay tuned for more announcements from Google.
