Owners of the HTC One X+ smartphone have been convicted with "denied Android 4.4 KitKat update" after HTC Netherlands confirmation via Twitter. HTC One X+, One X and One S are only receiving Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update scheduled this January.

HTC Netherlands

HTC Netherlands confirmed via Twitter that HTC One X+ smartphone will no longer receive further software upgrades such as Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.4 KitKat.

"We can confirm the HTC One X+ will remain on the current software version, Android 4.2.2 and Sense," @HTC_NL tweeted with translations from the Droid Guy.

HTC One X+ just celebrated its 1-year anniversary back in November 2013 and supposed to be eligible to get Android 4.4 KitKat since it's within the 18-month update window period followed by manufacturers. In addition, HTC One X+ boasts 1 GB of RAM, quad-core NVIDIA core processors and GeForce graphics chipset which makes the device capable of running both Android 4.3 and Android 4.4 KitKat.

As of now, HTC headquarters hasn't released any confirmation yet if One X+ is truly out of the future upgrade plans of the company on getting Android 4.3 and Android 4.4 versions for other territories.

Effects on Other Phones

Since HTC Netherlands has passed judgment on the HTC One X+, it is likely that HTC One X and One S users are also going to say goodbye to getting further upgrades and new versions of Sense UI.

HTC One X has similar hardware components with One X+ such as 1 GB of RAM, NVIDIA processor and GeForce graphics chip, while HTC One S sports Qualcomm Snapdragon and Adreno graphic chipset but still boast 1 GB of RAM.

HTC One X was released on May 2012 and HTC One S on April 2012 which makes both expired based on the 18-month update window period that probably made HTC hold further upgrades. Owners may only expect software updates containing bug fixes and system enhancements but runs the same operating system version after the official Android 4.2.2 rollout.

Android 4.2.2 Release Date

According to GottaBeMobile, HTC executive director of product management Mo Versi, AT&T is going to release an Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update and Mr Versi believes that it will be released this month after certification.

"@lmark218, @Chunder350 Yes, for both. Thanks!," tweet by @MoVersi on Jan 4, 2014.

It matches the tweet by HTC Netherlands that Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean would be the last software upgrade HTC One X+, One X and One S will receive in addition to other builds that contain bug fixes.
