HTC will begin volume production of its Puccini media tablet in June according to a report from DigiTimes. The Puccini tablet is reportedly scheduled for a summer release.

HTC's final testing for the Puccini has begun and mass production will start on June 2011. The 10.1 inch Puccini will use a dual core 1.5 Ghz Qualcomm MSM 8660 processor and will run with the Google Android OS 3.0.1 Honeycomb. It will also feature a touch panel that will support both resistive and capacitive touch technologies.

AU Optronics and Wintek will supply the 10.1 inch touch panels. HTC's 7 inch tablet touch panels were supplied by Cando and Wintek. There are still no accurate specs for the Puccini but there will be reportedly an HTC Scribe capacitive stylus for the display. Looking at the Flyer could give HTC users an idea of what to expect for the Puccini like Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi capability and two cameras. The Puccini could have a larger memory than the 32Gb the Flyer has and a longer lasting battery.

The Scribe stylus allows users to draw on Web pages and pictures. There is still no confirmation if HTC will be including the HTC Sense user sense interface on the Puccini. The tablet will be the flagship tablet for HTC and AT&T so expectations are high. It might not overtake the iPad in the market but it will undoubtedly boost AT&T's position against rivals Motorola and Verizon.
