Taiwan's HTC Corp., one of the world's top five smartphone makers, is sweet talking Taiwanese consumers into choosing its Mango Windows-powered handsets over its Apple and Samsung counterparts.

The company and Mango maker Microsoft Corp. launched the HTC TITAN and HTC RADAR in Taipei on Wednesday. The two, HTC's first Mango-powered smartphones, was also launched in London last month.

HTC will start local sales of the Titan and Radar later this month offering the first at less than $620 and the second at less than $456, according to Yahoo.com.

The Titan features a 4.7-inch touch screen, an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front camera. The Radar has a 3.8-inch screen and a 5 megapixel camera.

The Titan and Radar launching in Taiwan came just a week after Apple Inc. launched its iPhone 4S signifying HTC's and Microsoft's daring marketing stance against the most popular smartphone in the world.

The release of the Titan and Radar in Taiwan also comes days after HTC introduced its second Beats phone, the Android-powered HTC Sensation XL.

Microsoft's Windows Mobile OS is among the top three mobile operating system with a 13 percent share of the market. It trails Apple's iOS, which has 19 percent share of the market and Google's Android, which dominates the market with a 50 percent share.
