Huawei Nexus 7 to be launched in May 2016
Will the Nexus 7 remain in the budget segment?
Rumours are aplenty about the Google Nexus 7 tablet, but the latest news suggests that Huawei will be manufacturing the device and will be launched in May 2016.
Tech Times reported that the Chinese tech company Huawei will be manufacturing the Nexus 7 phone following the success of Nexus 6P.
Huawei has collaborated with Google to manufacture Nexus 7 2016 instead of the 6P collection. Industry experts claim that the Nexus 7 is in production and will probably be introduced in May next year, as reported by Christian Today. It seems like a good indicator that Google is satisfied with its partnership with Huawei for producing the said product.
However, another report indicates the launch of Nexus 7 2016 will be witnessed during Google’s annual I/O event which is scheduled in May or June. Although the rumours are making its rounds, Google still has not come forward to clear the speculations.
Some observers are stating that the Huawei Nexus 7 2016 will have the same specifications as Google’s Pixel C hybrid, which was released recently.
As per the speculations, the Nexus 7 2016 will run on Android Marshmallow, will at least have 2GB of RAM and will be powered by Huawei’s own processor, the Kirin 950 chipset. Meanwhile, another report claims the handset will have the Nvidia Tegra X1 processor which is also seen in Google Pixel C.
According to Realty Today, Google is not keen on featuring Huawei’s chipset Kirin 950 or Nvidia Tegra. Google will probably push for Snapdragon 820 SoC to be included in Nexus 7 2016. It’s worth noting that the earlier versions of Nexus 7 had the Nvidia Tegra chipset.
Thus far, Google’s Nexus 7 tablets were made of plastic and came under the budget segment. Not many would disagree that Google and Asus did a fine job of releasing them, but it remains to be seen what will happen next year. Will the Nexus 7 remain in the budget segment or migrate to mid-range? That question will finally be answered in 2016.
