With back to back release of few of the most coveted products of the year, it seems 2015 is the year for Huawei. The Chinese telecom giant has already bagged much appreciation for its maiden efforts to bring in the new Google Nexus 6P. Now, Huawei is ready with a path breaking, super powerful chipset and stylish smartphone with high-end specs.

At an event in Beijing, Huawei announced its HiSilicon Kirin 950 SoC which has already been proved to be better than Samsung’s top-of-the-line Exynos 7420, according to the scores of GeekBench.

The company is also expected to include the chipset in its upcoming Huawei Mate 8, teased to be unveiled at an event on Nov. 26. The company claims that the newest processor would provide 100 percent better performance than the Kirin 925, with 60 percent lower power consumption.

The HiSilicon Kirin 950 chipset makes use of TSMC’s 16nm FinFET processes. The chipset features four ARM Cortex A72 processors at up to 2.3 GHz and four Cortex A53 processors clocked at 1.8GHz, within the big.LITTLE architecture.

Huawei’s Kirin 950 chipset also incorporates an i5 co-processor and ARM Mali T880MP4 chip for the graphics. The chipset supports Category 6 LTE with a download speed of 300Mbps.The chipset will be compatible with camera processors up to 42 megapixels and support Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity and USB 3.0.

As pointed by GforGames, Qualcomm will soon enter the SoC market and unveil its latest and most awaited Snapdragon 820 chipset on Nov. 20. The upcoming flagship devices inclduing Xiaomi Mi5 and Samsung’s Galaxy S7 are expected to be powered by Snapdragon 820 processor. Simultaneously, other rumours claim that Xiaomi will launch its eagerly awaited smartphone, Mi5 on Dec. 3.
