Huawei’s upcoming Nexus device could be the first Google smartphone to offer up to 128GB of internal storage. Motorola’s Nexus 6 introduced last year, came in two variants: 32GB and 64GB.

Google has sent out media invites for an event in San Francisco on Sept. 29 where it will unveil its latest offerings, including the 2015 Nexus smartphones. The Huawei model will be named Nexus 6P and will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants, according to a report in Droid Life.

The new Nexus 6P will be the first-ever smartphone by Google to offer this much internal storage capacity. It’s aimed at power users such as people that want to store an entire music library; an array of movies and games on their device. With each increased storage level, however, the price of the device increases from $50 to $100.

On the other hand, LG’s Nexus smartphone is expected to be smaller with an affordable price tag. It will be named Nexus 5X. Unfortunately, the storage options for this smartphone only stand at 16GB and 32GB.

Huawei’s Nexus 6P is unlikely to house an expandable storage option because Google prefers its users use Google’s cloud services. A report in Android Police, however, suggests the Android Marshmallow developer preview supports the adoption of removable or external storage within the system. This storage is to be treated as internal without any additional apps.

But the storage adoption seems to work with microSD cards that aren’t present in any of the current Nexus devices. Users can format the SD card and encrypt it as a part of the internal storage. But users won’t be able to use the card in any other device.

On Sept. 29, Google is also expected to unveil the next generation Chromecast with a new design; faster Wi-Fi and high quality audio playback. The new Chromecast will come in three colours: red, black and yellow.
