Actor Ian Somerhalder, an active user of the social networking site Twitter, discovered that his account has been hacked through devoted followers. The internet hacker was fortunately tracked down with the help of the followers that put a stop to the cruel trick.

"Dear @IanSomerhalder, according to the entirety of the Twitter world on my mentions, you've been hacked. Dear world, ignore his tweets," Julie Plec, the executive producer of the "Vampire Diaries" wrote on her Twitter account @julieplec.

Followers who saw the Twitter posts from Ian Somerhalder's Twitter account, @iansomerhalder, picked up a different scent coming from the messages that smells "fishy." When the 34-year-old actor found out about the hacking incident, Ian decided to politely converse with the prankster instead of sending an angry and nasty message.

The actual Twitter messages that the hacker wrote have already been deleted. However, Ian Somerhalder decided to share to the Twitter followers an iPhone screen capture of his chat with Twitter hacker @FPT with the caption that reads: "From my twitter account hacker. Was just having some fun he/she said. Now back to work-filming today;)"

After regaining control over his Twitter account, Ian Somerhalder showed gratitude to his Twitter followers over the ordeal. "In other great news - I LOVE YOU PEOPL! THANKS FOR HELPING ME ;) Love, The REAL Ian," the heartthrob actor wrote.

Ian Somerhalder further revealed that he will to continue to work on his latest movie "The Anomaly." Aside from this movie project, Ian Somerhalder is scheduled to make an appearance at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards.

The "Vampire Diaries" star will attend the awarding ceremony and probably cross paths once again with co-star and former flame Nina Dobrev since they have been nominated on the awards show. The 2013 Teen Choice Awards will air live on August 11 at Fox Network.
