Ian Somerhalder: 'Vampire Diaries' Actor Turns 35, Wants $35 Donation For The Ian Somerhalder Foundation as Birthday Gift [VIDEOS]
Actor Ian Somerhalder turned another year older on Sunday, December 8. Instead of birthday gifts, the "Vampire Diaries" star wants as many fans as possible to donate $35 to the Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF).
According to the TV Fanatic report, Mr Somerhalder asks his fans every year on his birthday to donate money with the amount equivalent to his age for his foundation. The actor wrote on the official ISF Web site: "I have a goal this year... we can get 1 million people of the 7 billion on the planet to donate $35 dollars."
"I know it sounds simple, but all donations big and small fuel our resources to continue expanding and making change for the voiceless of this planet: our skies, seas, energy, habitats and of course our furry friends. So if you can donate now, two months from now or at my birthday thank you. Or maybe you can donate less than six dollars a month over the next six months. If you can't donate then you can spread the word about this year's birthday wish," added Ian further in the Hollywood Gossip report.
To celebrate Ian's special day, Zap 2 It had a look at the actor's career and listed the best roles that Ian has portrayed. Ian Somerhalder has catapulted to stardom for portraying bad boy vampire Damon Salvatore in the hit CW TV series "The Vampire Diaries."
The other TV characters that Ian portrayed in the past include Boone Carlyle in "Lost," Adam Knight or formerly known as Chad Nash, the resurrected teenager with a bleeding eye problem that Lionel Luthor sent to spy on Clark Kent and Lana Lang in "Smallville" and Hamilton Fleming, the son of a school dean who dated a girl disguising herself to look like a boy to get hold of her mother's attention in WB's "Dawson's Creek" spin-off series called "Young Americans."
