Intel Education Tablet: 10-inch and 7-inch Android Tablets on Their Way
Intel's website just featured a new 10-inch and 7-inch Android tablet designs. The two tablets will run on Android OS Jelly Bean and Atom chips. Can Intel gain computing supremacy through these tablets?
Intel has successfully become one of the biggest names in tech. They manufacture processor chips and similar tech components powering many of today's gadgets.
The Intel Education Tablet in 10-inch screen will run on Atom Z2460 chip. The chip otherwise known as Medfield, has also been used in several original Intel-based smartphones like Xolo, Lenovo and others. The tablet offers up to 6.5 hours of battery life depending on the user's activities.
The 10-inch screen display provides resolution support up to 1280 x 800 pixels. It is comparatively lighter weighing around 1.5 grams. Other details provide include a stylus support and 16GB storage. Intel will need to provide about the OS and whether there are additional applications provided.
The company will also need to confirm the final details of the 10-inch display.
As for the Intel Education Tablet listed as a 7-inch device, it will run Android 4.1. The device features Intel's single-core Atom Z2420 processor. The same processor can be found on Asus smartphones and mid-range tablets. According to Intel, the tablet can last up to 7.8 hours. Additional battery life may be possible depending on user activity.
The 7-inch Education Tablet weights around 12.5 ounces. The screen display offers resolution support up to 1024 x 600 pixels. Intel included 8GB of storage. The two tablets will both offer a micro USB slot for expandable memory and a WiFi connectivity option. Front camera shoots at 0.3 megapixels while rear camera shoots at 2 megapixels.
The 10-inch variant has Bluetooth included while this is optional on the 7-inch. Intel will need to confirm the availability and prices of the devices.
Additional feature is the Kno Textbooks software. Intel acquired the company back in 2011. In this program, the software transforms the tablet into a virtual canvas, library or laboratory. Users can paint or write on the device.
Throughout the years, Intel has always been the provider of hardware reference devices for those who manufacture devices. This time, the company will try assembling their tablet set. Previously, Intel already introduced their Studybook tablet. It was a 7-inch device. However, the company decided to concentrate more on their Education Tablet intended for the educational sector.
