Intel Helps Microsoft Fix Windows 10 Battery Problems
With Microsoft’s latest version of its operating system nearing its launch date, battery concerns have been found within its system. Intel is reported to be working on a patch that could fix this small bug that affects the battery life of devices that will run on Windows 10.
A report from PCWorld reveals that Intel is planning to terminate the bug with an upcoming patch, which in turn will help boost battery life. The effect of the bug is minor and does not reportedly go up beyond 10 percent decrease in battery life, but Intel plans to address the issue before the Windows 10 launch next week.
Since Windows 10 is a new operating system, it is understandable that it will require new drivers and performance optimisations to ensure chips and PCs run the Windows 10 without trouble. It is expected that the new operating syste may run into some problems with older chips. As of now, Intel is collaborating with Microsoft on fixing drivers for better battery performance on the new operating system throughout all Intel platforms. Intel says it expects the battery life on Windows systems to be as close as machines running Windows 8.1 once the update to the final Windows 10 drivers gets released.
Since operating systems receive constant updates and patches, it will require constant driver updates and bug fixes as well to ensure that it will run smoothly. Microsoft has assured users that it will have support for Windows 10 until 2025, but companies such as Intel will also continue to develop updates to coincide with whatever update Microsoft rolls out.
For now, it’ll be tough to determine how well devices will cope in terms of battery life with the new operating system running them, but come July 29 it will be clear. Intel will also be doing its best to provide support for the upcoming operating system to make it run smoothly.
