iOS 10: 10 notable features of Apple’s latest mobile systems update
Owners of previous models of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch will have fresh-looking devices as soon as they install iOS 10, Apple’s latest mobile operating system which will be downloadable starting Tuesday evening.

Here’s a short list of the new features Apple users can expect from iOS 10:
1. Raise to wake
Any iPhone, iPad or iPod touch will automatically display its lock screen without the user touching the home button or the power button. To disable the raise-to-wake feature, just go to Settings, click the Display and Brightness option and turn off the raise-to-wake switch.
2. Quick camera launch
All the user need is to swipe left from the lock screen to launch the camera app.
3. Automatically sort or search photos by faces or places
Under iOS 10, the Photo app instinctively organizes photos based on places or people. It also lets users search photos through tags that can be personalized.
4. 3D-touch Control Center
This feature lets users of iPhone 6S or 6S Plus to pull a new list of options from the Control Center without leaving the page.
5. Voice Mail transcription
Through the Phone app, iOS 10 provides a full transcription of voice mail messages. However, transcription is limited to English as of press time.
6. Multilingual keyboard
Under iOS 10, users can install different keyboard languages on their Apple devices. The iMessage app automatically detects which one is being used, hence, saving the user the hassle of dealing with autocorrect or switching between keyboards.
7. Live links, stickers on iMessage
With iOS 10, users can send links via iMessage, which in turn provides a preview of the linked website. Apple customers can also send stickers instead of emojis when responding to a text message or swap words with emojis with a simple tap.
8. Siri books your ride, Maps makes your reservation
Apple’s voice assistant can now book a ride on Uber or Lyft or hail a cab through Didi Chuxing in China or mytaxi across Europe. With iOS 10, Siri can also initiate video calls through Skype or Vonage Essentials while Apple Maps help users book a table using OpenTable.
9. New Home app
Apple’s iOS 10 comes with the new Home app, which lets users turn on lights, unlock doors or raise your window shades digitally.
10. Redesigned Music app includes lyrics
Apple Music now lets users sing along or view the lyrics of their favorite tracks while listening to music.
