iOS 5 Update: How to Install Battery Life, Security Fix
In response to the issues raised on the iOS 5, Apple released the iOS 5.0.1. This update is expected to fix battery and security concerns that came up with the iOS 5.
Apple released the iOS 5.0.1 "over the air", so there's no need to connect to a PC, Mac or the iTunes. Note that Wi-Fi connection or Network supported internet should be available in order to do the update. Also, battery should be at least 50%, as downloading time may vary, though reports say it can be done in as fast as 5 minutes.
To do this users just need to go to follow the simple steps;
1. Go to Settings app
2. Select General
3. Select Software Update.
The device will automatically ping Apple and check the availability of the update and the iOS 5.0.1 prompt will appear. This update is available for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touch and first generation iPad and iPad2.
In a document released by Apple, the iOS 5.0.1 software update will not only fix the battery life issues, but will also fix bugs in synchronizing with iCloud, add multitasking gestures to the iPad and improve voice recognition for Australian users using dictation. The update also contains undisclosed bug fixes and improvements.
This update is the first iOS update released "over the air", a new feature that came with the release of iOS 5. The over the air technology is a method of distributing software updates to mobile devices with the necessary settings handsets with the necessary settings. Mobile device with this capability are labeled as being "OTA capable."
