iOS 7 Evasi0n Jailbreak Released: Still Free, iOS 6.1.3 Jailbreak from @iH8Sn0w Expected to Complete 'Holiday Presents'
The evasi0n iOS 7 jailbreak has been released by the evad3rs group. iPhone 5S and 5C users can now download and install the free utility from the widely trusted iOS 6 jailbreakers. Apple device users on iOS 7 - iPhone, iPad and iPod in variants - should take the next steps with caution, though. Meanwhile, the jailbreak community is waiting for @iH8sn0w to follow the evad3rs' holiday move and release iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak.
The evad3rs announced their evasi0n iOS 7 jailbreak release on Twitter, with a side note to holiday greetings. Millions of Apple iOS 6 users installed the evasi0n utility early this year, but the updates were paused for a while at iOS 6.1.2. A free and widely trusted jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 has yet to be released, and dev @iH8sn0w is expected to save the day.
"Merry Christmas! The iOS 7 jailbreak has been released at http://evasi0n.com ! All donations will go to @publicknowledge, @eff and @ffii," tweets @evad3rs. The message has been "retweeted" nearly nine thousand times and "favourited" nearly four thousand times.
The evad3rs started in September to "actively look" into iOS 7 and develop a free jailbreak utility. When the group announced in March that they were not releasing a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3, they also hinted they'd focus on the next major Apple iOS iteration. Users of iPhone and other devices have waited quite a while for the release. There were even rumours that the evasi0n iOS 7 jailbreak would not be released within the year 2013.
"Since everyone loves updates: @evad3rs have now started to actively look at iOS 7," evad3r @planetbeing tweeted in mid-September.
Since then, fake groups have been taking advantage of the evasi0n fame. @Planetbeing has raised a comment about it in November: "Really sick of the fake http://evad3rs.net , @evad3rs_jb and their FB and G+ pages spreading speculation that people think come from us."
Tweets have been scarce from the group since end-October, making many users lose hope. None of the evad3rs released a specific iOS 7 jailbreak ETA to keep the Apple hackers calm. The next major update, which is a release announcement, came a couple of days before Christmas Day.
If you OTA updated your device, back it up in iTunes and make a FULL restore before applying evasi0n7. http://t.co/K3W0il1cNN #iOS7JB
