iOS 8 is ‘Jailbreakable’ but Evasi0n Unlocker, Other Public Jailbreaking Tool Releases Unlikely Until Q4 2014 – Reports

Following the iOS 8 beta release to developers this week, the immediate question that pops up - Will Team Evad3rs get to work quick and dispatch a parallel Evasi0n8 version in September 2014.

The iPhone 6 release date is widely believed set in the middle part of September and so is the iOS 8, which will power not only the next iPhone but also the 2014 iPad and iPod editions.

Is it possible that the Evad3rs' jailbreaking experiments will be over by then as the group is expected to poke inside of the series of beta iOS 8 versions that will come out between now and until such time that the platform morphs into the final build a few months ahead?

For one, the dev group has hinted in the recent months that doors could remain open for a public jailbreak, at least for iOS 8, in spite of the fact that Apple has effectively eliminated the available iOS 7 exploits after build 7.1.1 was rolled out.

One proof is the jailbroken iPhone 4S that was credited to iH8Snow in March this year, which was followed by a statement from @pod2g, prominent member of Team Evad3rs, that jailbreaking iOS 7.1.1 is a work in progress.

However, @pod2g quickly added that the Evad3rs will likely reserve the iOS vulnerabilities they discovered for an iOS 8 unlocker. In saying that, the dev effectively shut door on the possibility of an iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak, which explains the group's silence since the latest and official iOS build was deployed.

And the wait for an iOS 8 jailbreak may not be in vain despite Apple's continuing efforts to keep hackers at bay. In a matter of few hours after developers were given access to the first iOS 8 beta build, Stefan Esser or more popularly known in the jailbreak community as @i0n1c took Twitter and declared the 2014 jailbreaking race open.

"Initial tests show that iOS 8 beta does not fix anything. Dumped kernel fine, but code changed and patches are not found," iDownloadBlog.com reported Esser as saying in his Twitter account, adding that @i0n1c is indicating that the new mobile platform from Apple is 'jailbreakable'.

The same report stressed too that while Esser will surely not share a public iOS 8 jailbreak, allowing the Evad3rs to do the honours instead, the hacker at least pointed to the solid possibility of an iPhone and iPad liberator following their 2014 release dates.

Also, one possible fix that Team Evad3rs must first work on, as pointed out by @i0n1c, is to make sure that "Cydia runs at all in iOS 8." Cydia is the hub for jailbreak tweaks and apps.

With the Esser signal, it is fair to say that working untethered iOS jailbreak will creep out soon as CNET explains: "A new version of iOS, especially a beta version, represents a tasty treat to hackers, who quickly vie to be the first out with a fresh jailbreak."

So when is the first jailbreaking tool, likely and preferably Team Evad3rs' Evasi0n8 iOS 8 Jailbreak, will cross the tape?

The safe bet for an iOS 8 jailbreak release date is between late December 2014 and early January 2015, which is around the same time that the Evasi0n7 unlocker was made public late last year.
