iOS 8 Pangu Jailbreak Tempts with 250+ New Cydia Tweaks but 4 Key Bugs & Issues Remain
The iOS 8 jailbreak that Pangu has released last week now counts more or less 250 Cydia tweaks ready for the taking by jailbreak fans, also making the iPhone and iPad unlocker a bit more tempting.
In its latest report, iDigitalTimes listed over 250 jailbreak tweaks that the blog site said are compatible and should work with the Pangu creation. The same report, however is clear on its warning that while these Cydia apps are usable, they are not free of glitches that range from minor to serious such as device freezing.
In fact, for those brave enough to play with Pangu's jailbreak tool, a Reddit thread points out at least four problems that may prove quite a turn off and they are provided below:
Cydia still not a default Pangu jailbreak component
The latest word from the Chinese and @saurik, who of course is the Cydia author, is they are working hard to marry the two and make the union stable as soon as possible. But at the moment, iPhone 6 users that wish to jailbreak will need to install iOS 8 jailbreak and Cydia separately, the latter manually.
Reports of device boot loops and freezing
Even as Cydia is unbundled with the new jailbreak, many iDevice users opted for a test drive and unsurprisingly they encountered issues. Redditors posted reports of boot loops or freezing, which according to some forum members was caused by enabled pass code when powering up a jailbroken iOS device.
iMessage malfunctions
There were claims too of difficulty to attach pictures on outgoing messages as quick access to the device photo gallery appears to have been disabled following a successful of the iOS 8 jailbreak. It is unclear though if the issue is universal as Reddit said such reports were filed by "some people."
Safari crash
Lastly, Safari has reportedly hit a bottleneck with Pangu's iOS 8 jailbreak as a few users have complained of Web pages not loading. Since the reports are not too widespread, it can be assumed that the case is isolated in nature, basing on the same Reddit thread.
In the end, the iOS 8 jailbreak available for now is best used by experienced developers and most jailbreak fans are advised by experts to keep a safe distance until Pangu has stabilized everything or perhaps wait for Team Evad3rs to pull a surprise move and re-enter the iOS jailbreaking scene.
