The iOS 8 became available for Mac users on Sept 17. News reports from multiple sources like PhoneArena claim that the new iOS 8 was found to be unstable on older Apple devices like iPhone 5S, iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S. Analysts are claiming that the new iOS 8 is not very stable as compared with the older iOS 7.

Rumours are rife that Apple has already rolled out an update for iOS 8, which will fix all the bugs that are causing stability issues on the new operating system. The iOS 8.0.1 is the first update that will fix minor issues with the new iOS 8.

The iOS 8 is supported by iPhones like iPhone 4S, 5S and 5C; iPads like iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4 and iPad Air; iPad Mini and iPad Mini with Retina Display; and lastly, the 5th gen iPod Touch. GSMArena has reported that within a week of releasing the new iOS 8, the iOS 8 has been found to be present on 46% of Apple devices that are linked with the Apple App Store.

The change log of iOS 8.0.1 update reveals the different fixes that will be available for the new iOS. The numbering scheme of the update also reveals that it is only a minor update. Here is the list of iOS 8.0.1 bug fixes:

  • Phone - Deals with issues related to call forwarding. It also fixes freezing issue when accessing visual voicemail.
  • Keyboard - Will address the issue of keypad not showing up when you want to input iCloud keychain verification codes.
  • Safari - Sometimes, the browser is unable to play online videos. This issue will be solved through iOS 8.0.1 update.
  • VPN - Addresses the problem related with installing VPN profile

Those who experience choppiness after installing the new iOS 8 will have to install the iOS 8.0.1 update as soon as it arrives. MacRumours claims that the iOS 8.0.1 has been already made available to carriers and is currently in the testing phase and is waiting to get approved. However, as of now, there is no official statement yet as to when the update will be made available to users.
