iPad 3 with Quad Core and Other Features to be Revealed on March 7?
Rumors about the iPad 3 are surging since iMore blog reported that it will be released March 7. The latest news is that the device will be powered by a quad-core processor.
The first week of March release date is consistent with the conventional release of previous generations of iPad. There have been reports that the iPad 3 will feature a quad-core Apple A6 system-on-a-chip, and possibly 4G LTE networking.
The iPad 3 is expected to have a brand spanking new processor, Apple's A6 or a quad-core ARM-based processor. Quad-core designs are coming from various ARM partners and the Tegra 3 has already been launched by Nvidia, as well as the Snapdragon S4 from Qualcomm. According to the Korea Times in November 2011, the A6 processors are to be manufactured by Samsung, despite the companies' ongoing patent battles.
Aside from a new processor, the device will be equipped with a 2048 x 1536 resolution retina display with a size of 9.7 inches. There is a rumor that Samsung will continue its partnership with Apple and will take charge of making the displays. Moreover, LTE support will be provided to U.S. subscribers. There is a rumor that iPad 3 will be equipped with Qualcomm 4G LTE Gobi 4000 chip.
The much-awaited iPhone 5, on the other hand, has a speculated release date this June. According to rumors, the new iPhone will be sporting 4G LTE capabilities, iOS 6 and an A6 processor. Moreover, the iPhone 5 could be waterproof, will have enhanced Siri support and iCloud integration.
