iPad 5, iPad Mini 2 October Release Date: Two iOS 7 iPads Share Similar Looks, A7 Powerhouse Chips & AMD-Inspired GPU [PHOTOS]
Apple CEO Tim Cook has indicated that global consumers will get to see a totally redesigned iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 on their rumoured October release date, crediting Jony Ive for the 'incredible changes'.
This week, the reported slimmed down profile of the 9.7-inch iPad 5, got a fresh confirmation via a leaked tablet case showcased in a video and photos posted by Vietnamese blog site Tinhte.vn.
The clip and images teased of a regular-size iPad that notably shrunk in width and length, its smaller make having narrower bezels for Apple engineers to squeeze into the Retina screen panel that maintain the size seen in previous editions.
The alleged iPad 5 case itself hinted of a rear camera near the corner and a small opening, also at the back, purportedly for a microphone that captures clearer sounds with moving images.
This latest information supports earlier claims that the big-screen iPad will be 25 per cent lighter and 15 per cent thinner thanks to a new manufacturing approach that Apple has implemented in producing its flagship tablet.
Analysts are upbeat that both iOS slates, the iPad 5 and the iPad Mini 2, will be powered by a faster processor, equally benefitting from the A7 chip architecture with expected quad-core might.
Enhanced Retina is part of the package and to fuel such immersive display screen is an engine that is currently being developed by the so-called 'Orlando GPU team'. This endeavour is recently boosted by the arrival of new talents that were honed by AMD.
Apple's hiring of AMD veterans, according to BGR News, should speed up the works concerning the graphic components of both the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2.
In a report by DigiTimes, production of the two slates are set to commence by July this year with the global release date set to happen in October, which is the latest target for the twin-gadget rollout, analysts said.
