iPad 5 Release Date with iPhone 5S on June 29 Confirmed?
The fifth generation of Apple's iPad is rumoured to be released on June 29.
According to tech website Gizmorati which quoted an Apple inside source, "iPhone 5S and the iPad 5 will be unveiled during a special event called 'Original Passion, New Ideas', on June 29, 2013." The event has the purpose to "reconquer the public and reassure the investors".
iPad 5 is speculated to be released with the low cost smartphone dubbed as the iPad 5S.
According to the latest rumour, Apple's supply chain will start shipping the components for the iPhone 5S at the end of May, so the next generation smartphone will likely have a chance of showing up in the third quarter, reports Digitimes.
The site also mentions that "Foxconn Electronics chairman Terry Guo previously noted that the company's performance will start picking up after April or May; however, Foxconn declined to comment about its clients when asked about iPhone orders."
This debunks the reports that claimed that Apple is pulling the plug for its iPad line and will shift its focus on its popular miniature version.
According to CNYes, Apple has not seen a drop in demand of the original iPad Mini since the tablet made its debut last October. The Cupertino-based company is apparently waiting until sales to go down before announcing the iPad Mini 2.
Apple may no longer find it worthy to manufacture full-sized iPad, especially when people favour the iPad Mini.
However, the iPad 5 is rumoured to have no bezels, and the whole form factor has been made sleeker. Horowitz believes this design indicates that Apple will be calling on Sharp's IGZO screen technology. Sharp, however, according to Horowitz, has been struggling, and its ability to deliver components on time will play a key role in the release of the next iPad.
