Various rumours surround the release of iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 later this year. iOS enthusiasts want to know the release date and specs, even the sources right now are anyone and anything but Apple itself. What we know is that there has been no significant price drops on the existing flagship tablets. This could mean a couple more months of waiting for the upgrades. Still, we keep on guessing: Which of the two prized tablets will deliver more cash to the giant Cupertino tech company?

We've rounded-up some of the rumoured specs and gadget shopping considerations related to the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2:

Mobility. Rumours indicate the iPad 5 will be thinner and lighter with slimmer bezels. It will be easier to carry around, but it can't be any lighter than the iPad mini 2. If you move around much, as in conferences and meetings, the smaller iPad will allow you more convenience in your mobility.

Media consumption. The iPad mini 2 specs will reportedly boast of a faster Apple A6X processor -- the same brainpower as in iPad 4. A6X comes with a quad-core graphics processing unit. This means the tablet can support heavy media browsing and viewing on top of Retina technology. If you can count on the small one to deliver your desired media content at a pace you want, why choose the bigger tablet?

Screen Display. Various analysts and unnamed sources are almost giving assurance to buyers that the iPad mini 2 will sport a much brilliant screen display. It could be with IGZO slim-and-tough screen, or the more popular Retina technology. Many tablet shoppers frowned upon the screen display of the original iPad mini last year. Still, the small Apple tablet has been a hit. If it does come with better screen, does that mean iPad 5 will be (largely) eclipsed?

Device count. The iPad mini 2 is best for users with other bigger devices for productivity and leisure apps or programs. If you'll be relying on a singular device for productivity and media consumption, go for the more robust (as expected) iPad 5.

Size insight. What is your take on screen size? If you say "bigger is better," then go for the iPad 5. Know that bigger is also heavier, so make sure you won't have portability issues in the long run.

Which of the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 will bring in more money to Apple from 2013 to 2014? More important, have you determined whether any of these upcoming devices is worth your cash?
