In time for the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 release date this 2014, Apple is reportedly deploying a vastly improved Touch ID sensors, which first came with the iPhone 5S in late 2013, with the iOS-powered slates.

The fingerprint sensors that expectedly will be embedded in the 2014 iPads home button, as it was in the iPhone 5S, were reportedly manufactured by Asian firms that are directly connected to the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), BGR said in a report.

The 2014 build differs from the last year's version as the former uses the 12-inch fab processing method while the latter employed the 8-inch. The shift, assumingly paves the way for the necessary improvements or corrections from the iPhone 5S Touch ID render.

With Touch ID likely packed with the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3, tablet users can expect the following welcome changes:

Tougher tablet security protocol

Like the 5S before it, this year's upcoming iPads will enjoy better security with the possible benefits of doing away with easy to forget or crack pass codes. Apple's fingerprint scanning technology allowed 5S users to lock and unlocked the smartphone without having to key in their pre-set numerical combinations.

Improved hardware and iOS integration

Months after the iPhone 5S debut, complaints of alleged Touch ID function degradations surfaced. Cases of the 5S unable to recognise a previously recorded finger print piled up, which Apple gradually rectified in software patches delivered via iOS 7.1 and 7.1.1.

This likely will not be the case in the new Touch ID that will arrive with the Air 2 and Mini 3. TSMC's use of a better processing method is expected to lend the technology higher accuracy rating while iOS 8 will provide the necessary codes for Touch ID on the iPads to record and read biometric more efficiently.

Safer online mobile computing

Even before it was introduced, Touch ID was envisioned to play a key role in providing a hassle-free and safer online mobile computing environment in the iOS ecosystem. If the technology opened the door for a pass code-free unlocking of devices, it will soon position the iPad to process online transactions minus the need for tough-to-hack passwords but with better layer of protection.

The likely early stage of implementation is Touch ID-protected purchases on iTunes and the App Store. To follow inevitably is the entry third-party participants like mobile banking that securely goes through the iPad or iPhone.

These killer iOS tablet features would arrive between October and November 2014 that according to Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities is the likely release date for both the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.
