- Improvements on the App Store such as more search options, Near Me, automatic app updates and more.

You can wait a little longer till promos are out from your network carrier or local retail shops before buying the new generation iOS devices.

Possible Long Line

You are not the only Apple fan which means expect a long line once the devices are out for selling. Checking online retailers may also give you an advantage but shipment could take some time. Ask your network carrier as well if there are any possible deals to upgrade your current iPad or iPad mini without being charged too much.

Initial Price Tag

Initial release price may be steep for your budget with iPad Air starting at $499 and iPad Mini Retina at $399. It may not be practical to buy such expensive devices with the expected holiday inventory promo coming soon, Android and Windows 8 tablets populating the market and the long lines you'll have to suffer on the way.

The Holiday Inventory Sale

If you push the iPad Air or iPad Mini Retina on your budget, be patient and wait till the holiday inventory sale approaches your area. Network carriers and local retailers will do everything to sell new Apple products like hotcakes using attractive discounts, freebies and more. Apple is not limiting their supply so waiting won't hurt plus, discounts provided by the holidays could get you an accessory or two for free.

Christmas isn't the only source of discounts and freebies, network carriers may begin New Year Eve or first week of January promo for the 2014 special. iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina prospective buyers may get special treatment on their billing statement, additional data plans at lower cost, free items and more.
