Rumours suggest that HTC One Max will be released on the same day as the iPad mini 2, is this a conscious effort by the company to go head to head with Apple? Will the new phablet be able to take on the new mini tablet on the Oct 15 release date?

Design and Display:

The HTC One Max is expected to be similar in design to the popular HTC One smartphone by the company, the device is rumoured to have a 5.9 inch display, rendering 1920 x 1080 resolution.

The iPad mini 2 on the other hand is rumoured to come in a 7.9 inch display, there are rumours that the new retina display screens are in short supply, analysts speculate that this may push the commercial availability of the device to 2014.

Hardware Specs:

The HTC One Max is rumoured to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, along with a 2GB of RAM. The device could be available in 32 GB and 64 GB memory options.

The iPad mini 2 is rumoured to come with the recently launched 64 bit architecture for mobile devices, the feature is available in the iPhone 5S, and an A7 chip. The device is expected to come with a 1 GB RAM, which is higher than the 512 MB RAM of the previous generation of the same device.

Camera:

The HTC One Max is expected to come with a 4 MP primary camera and a 2.1 MP secondary camera is expected. The iPad mini 2 on the other hand is rumoured to come with a whopping 8 MP primary camera.

Similarities:

Both the devices are rumoured to come in a metal - aluminium body. The iPad mini 2 is rumoured to feature the recently unveiled fingerprint scanner by the company and there are rumours that a similar fingerprint scanner will feature on the HTC One Max too.

Difference:

The HTC One Max is rumoured to come with an expandable memory option via a Micro SD card slot whereas the iPad mini 2 may not allow for an expandable memory as Apple has traditionally not been keen on this feature.

The HTC One Max is expected to run on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean where as the iPad mini 2 is expected to run on the recently launched Apple iOS 7. Both the platforms come with their own advantages and respective fan following.
