iPad mini 2 release date is likely to fall a year after the original Apple (AAPL) tablet mini was unveiled. The unveiling and sales could happen within late Q3 and early Q4 2013.

Many gadget shoppers are getting impatient, no thanks to several rumours that indicated the iPad mini 2 release was happening sooner. But Apple is keeping its cool. CEO Tim Cook even told investors he can't wait, but the new products really aren't coming soon. Here are six of the reasons why the Cupertino-based tech giant is not rushing.

iPad Mini 2 Release Date: 6 Reasons Apple (AAPL) is Making Shoppers Wait 'Til Late-2013

"Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software, and services that we can't wait to introduce this fall and throughout 2014," Apple CEO Tim Cook has been frequently quoted as saying. Cook's statement is a strong reason to believe there really won't be an iPad mini 2 before Q3 2013. He made the announcement to investors in an earnings call.

6. Component Issues Can't Be Helped. The iPad mini 2 is believed to be coming out with the much-desired Retina display technology. Naturally, challenges were met on the manufacturing side. The new mini has to stay light and thin despite the display enhancement.

5. iOS 7. Apple Inc. senior VP and design genius Jonathan Ive is reportedly busy improving the software side of the new iDevices. With an early release, there is little chance that the iPad mini 2 could ship with iOS 7. Given the holiday release timeline, it becomes a little more possible.

4. Holiday Release is Strategic. The iPad mini drew millions in sales sans the Retina display. It was clear there is a huge market for cheaper small-size tablets. And the holiday release proved to be a great timing. So why not do it again, this time with Retina?

3. Letting the Competition Go First. Samsung has released its own small tablet, the Galaxy Note 8. It comes sleek and handy with the S Pen, but it's no iPad mini. Sometimes, all the good stuff inside is overlooked upon first touch. Samsung is still not paying attention to hardware beauty the way Apple does. At the end of the day, the competition is only increasing anticipation for the iPad mini 2.

2. Retina Display Technology. So much has been said about the iPad mini's "poor" screen display. The reality, however, is that many gadget users did not mind about some visible pixel marks. The other reality is that an iPad mini 2 with Retina display could attract more buyers than the first mini had pulled in. And these buyers will wait.

1. iPad Mini Price Drop. Many rumours and confirmed reports have risen about the iPad mini price drop. It reportedly signals the release of the iPad mini 2. Still, Apple couldn't be blamed if it wants to maximize the still incoming mini revenue. (As long as some mega price drop awaits late mini adopters, buyers won't mind, too.)
