iPad mini 2 release date could fall within the third quarter of the year, according to several rumours. Is this a plausible theory? A fresh round of speculations was raised days ago when a certain "Apple insider" supposedly leaked some information on an upcoming June 29 Apple event.

"An inside source from Apple (also confirmed by a third party) told Gizmorati that its both devices, the iPhone 5S and the iPad 5 will be unveiled during a special event called 'Original Passion, New Ideas', on June 29, 2013," reads a report by Gizmorati.com. No update on the iPad mini 2 came up. The tech site seemed very confidents of its source, with writer Matthew Lucas posing a question to readers: "Do you think the 'Original Passion, New Ideas' special event will help Tim Cook and Apple, overall?"

Apple rumours are sometimes not too far from actual developments in the Cupertino-based firm. This is why iOS device users have been used to scouring the internet for Apple speculations when thinking of buying a new Apple product. In the case of the iPad mini 2, it has been widely expected that the iPad 5 and iPhone 5s will be unveiled first. The strategy would make sense since the iPad mini 2 is expected to eclipse other Apple devices on a singular event. It would also be a strategic marketing move to release the new mini closer to the anniversary of the original edition -- November 2012.

What this tech scoop means to Apple shoppers is to try to wait a little longer. Such reports, of course, are not set in stone. But if you are having second thoughts about grabbing the iPad mini now, then don't. Just wait a little bit longer for the iPad mini 2. It is not impossible that the new Apple mini would come out by the third quarter of the year.
