1. Price. The iPad mini 2 starts at $399. That's only 16GB of non-expandable storage, with no 4G or LTE connectivity. The same amount could get you the 32GB LTE variant of Nexus 7 2 (if this variant is released to your country). You will snub the mini if you want to moderate the exit of cash from your wallet (or plastics).

2. iOS 7 or Android 4.3. If you want more control over your files in your tablet, you have to download a utility called a jailbreak from a third-party developer to run your iPad mini 2. In contrast, the Android environment running on Nexus 7 2 -- Jelly Bean or Kit Kat (soon) -- holds no prisoners.
