In the surprise of everyone, tech giant Apple unveiled not one, but two tablets yesterday at its media event at San Jose's California Theater. Apple unwrapped the iPad Mini and a revamped full size iPad.

Apple unveiled the long-rumored iPad mini, a smaller, lighter model with a 7.9-inch screen, instead of the 9.7-inch Retina display on the regular iPad. The screen resolution is 1024 by 768 pixels, the same as the iPad 2 and a quarter of the resolution of the flagship iPad.

The company also boosted the existing iPad 3 or New iPad by adding a new A6X processor, faster Wi-Fi performance, and the 8-pin Lightning connector, while keeping the price the same as before-starting at $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model. Both also have 4G LTE versions available for $130 more, and you can get them all in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB varieties.

Below are the comparison of iPad Mini and the latest generation of iPad.

Screen Display - iPad Mini will have 7.9 inch screen display with 1024 x 768 pixels resolution. The latest iPad will sport the same, old 9.7 inch screen display with 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution.

Operating System - Both iPads will run with iOS 6.

Processor - iPad Mini and 4th Gen iPad are powered by A5 and A6X chip, respectively.

Storage - Both devices come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants.

Camera - Both devices will be equipped with 5MP rear shooter.

Battery - The iPad Mini and 4th Gen iPad both boast 10 hours of WiFi and nine hours of 4G.

Price - One of the main determinants of the two devices is their prices. The WiFi only, 16GB version of iPad Mini costs $329 while the WiFi + 4G/LTE, 16GB version has a tag price of $459. The full size iPad WiFi only and WiFi + 4G/LTE cost $499 and $629, respectively.

Based from the features above, the full size iPad and iPad Mini almost have the same specs. People should just choose whether they want a full size tablet or a miniature version. Moreover, the price of the devices should be taken into consideration.

Pre-orders for the iPad mini and the 4th Generation of iPad will start on Friday, October 26, with the Wi-Fi-only versions hitting Apple Stores on November 2.
