Rumors say that Apple stores in the United States have beeen offering unlocked and contract-free iPhone 4S simultaneously with the iPhone 4S on shelves for $199 apiece on two-year contracts starting Oct. 14.

According to the fine print in the Apple's Web site, the unlocked and contract free iPhone 4S were supposed to be available in November.

However, according to the report of the 9 to 5 Mac, Apple is already selling contract-free GSM iPhone 4S that is already unlocked from AT&T network. 9 to 5 Mac reports that Steve Thoughton-Smith confirmed the existence of unlocked and contract-free iPhone 4S and he bought a model.

Thoughton-Smith is an iPhone developer and hacker that was able to equip iPhone 4 a Siri feature, which Apple said that will be an exclusive feature of the iPhone 4S.

It's All Tech also confirmed the existence of contract-free iPhone 4S. According to their report, the off-contract iPhone 4S was unlocked and they were able to put a T-mobile SIM and it worked and experienced no trouble on it.

The writer in It's All Tech bought contract-free iPhone 4S and he plugged into iTunes and he got a message that the iPhone 4S is unlocked.

The price of the unlocked iPhone 4S is $649, $749 and $849 for the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, respectively.

John Gruber of Daring Fireball has confirmed that the Sprint iPhone 4S comes with GSM micro-SIM that is unlocked. Gruber reported that he was able to use a Canadian card in the Sprint iPhone 4S. This report is in line with the Sprint's report. However, Sprint is planning to release a carrier update that will soon lock the GSM micro-SIM card slot.

iPhone 4S is the latest addition to Apple's line of gadgets. Siri is a voice-recognition system that turns the device into a hands-free personal assistant. iPhone 4S uses the iOS 5 platform.
