iPhone 5: Slimmer Version of the Latest iPod Touch?
There is no stopping the ongoing rumors about the iPhone 5. The latest news about the smartphone is that it will be a smaller and slimmer version of the latest generation of iPod Touch.
Reports claimed that the two products will have a lot of similarities in terms of features that will make one wonder why there is a need for separate devices. This means that the two devices can be used on the same purpose with the same features and capabilities.
It makes sense for the Cupertino-based company to combine the abilities of both of these devices in the future, and we could see the future iPhone will become much thinner like the iPod touch is today, but also with a bigger screen. This would mean one of the products would need dropping, most likely the iPod touch, or the name would change and become known as much more than a "phone".
According to the latest rumors, iPhone 5 is speculated to have the final measurement specs will be 58.47mm x 123.83mm x 7.6mm. As with previous iterations, thickness is expected to be equal across the body.
With minimal changes made on the outside, we can only hope that the Apple packed more inside the new iPhone 5. Some of the rumored features of the upcoming iPhone 5 are 4G/LTE capability, A6 chip and equipped by the new iOS 6. iPhone 5 will have a 9-pin dock connector. The beta version of iOS 6 holds proof on this claim. Smaller dock connector will yield more space inside for greater features.
Apple is also expected to release an iPad Mini, which is rumored to have 7.3 mm thick, 134.73mm wide, 200.13mm long, and feature a mini dock connector, redesigned speakers, and add a microphone on the backside. Moreover, the iPad Mini will feature a rear camera and a front camera for FaceTime, although the pixels of shooters are not yet revealed.
iPhone 5 is expected to be launched on September 12 at a media event and will be available on September 21.
