iPhone 5 Talks Back vs Samsung’s Anti-Apple Campaign in Galaxy S3 Ad [PHOTOS]
‘It doesn’t take a genius’
iPhone 5 talks back. Or at least, some Apple fans did.
In a classic "dose-of-your-pill" move, iPhone 5 enthusiasts stood up against a Samsung Galaxy S3 comparative "anti-iPhone" advertisement and called Samsung a bully. (Click 'Start' to see the images.)
Samsung, which lost against Apple in a $1 billion patent battle, appears to have decided to run an anti-iPhone 5 marketing campaign.
The anti-iPhone ad, headlined, "It doesn't take a genius," lists the specs of iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III in two columns. However, Samsung conveniently left off some exclusive Apple features in a bid to make it appear the Android gadget is superior to the latest iPhone version.
In reaction, an "edited" ad surfaced on the web, insinuating Samsung is acting like a high school bully. Gizomodo.com reported the Apple fans' ad versions.
The edited versions, however, are just as inaccurate as the anti-iPhone ad, observers commented. See some reader reactions:
In analyzing the anti-iPhone 5 ad, Chris Matyszczyk of CNet.com weighs the facts carefully beyond the phone features being compared. He wrote:
"People don't buy the iPhone for all the features. They buy it for all those quirky, irrational, emotional, maddening reasons that make people's eyes glaze over and their minds work like a blancmange clock... There are no lists nor self-help books that can tell you how to do that. That does, sometimes, take a little genius."
On Twitter, Samsung continues its campaign, shouting out: [@SamsungMobileUS] "It doesn't take a genius to look at the facts. On the #GalaxySIII, you get 4G LTE and a 4"+ screen... plus much more. http://smgm.us/smS"
They say the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference. The Samsung ads are hardly indifferent towards Apple, though. Do you think an anti-Apple marketing campaign would work for Samsung?
