iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C finally went on sale today and caused long queues and heavy traffic in the streets of Sydney.

Australia is the first country to sell the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C to Apple fans when it opened Apple Stores at 8 a.m. and hundreds of people lined up to grab the first slew of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C supplies.

Some people started lining up yesterday with the hope of grabbing the iPhone 5S. Long queue of Apple users are already expected on various Apple Stores in Australia. This is a usual sight whenever Apple releases a new iPhone or iPad.

If you wish to avoid the long lines outside the Apple stores, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C are also available at major Australian carries - Optus, Telstra and Vodafone. However, these carriers prioritise those who pre-ordered the device.

Australians should also check retailers and resellers. Online retailers like MobiCity and Kogan offer new smartphones at the same time as carriers.

Pre-orders for the devices started last week. Shipping is reported to take 7 to 10 days for the iPhone 5S compared to 1 to 3 days for the 5C.

iPhone 5S now took the $199 slot and boasts some of the iPhone 5 specs and features. It also packs the new and first-in-smartphone 64-bit A7 processing chip, M7 motion-sensing chip as well as the fingerprint sensor on the home button. The handset is available in black, silver and gold colour variants

The iPhone 5S costs $199 for 16 GB, $299 for 32 GB and $399 for 64 GB with the usual 2-year contract with your chosen carriers.

The iPhone 5C, on the other hand, features 4-inch retina display, dual-core A6 chip processor and 8 MP rear camera. However, the device is offered in blue, green, yellow, white and red colour variants.

The iPhone 5C will be replacing the old iPhone 5, as Apple already pulled out the latter from the Apple Store.
