iPhone 5S M7: Neat Features to Possibly Improve Apple Maps
With the launch of the newest Apple devices, a noticeable addition comes along -- the M7 co-processor with the A7 chip. It powers the accelerometer, compass and gyroscope. It is ideally pegged for the use of fitness and health apps, but there's more that M7 can do in the future.
The other features that M7 boasts of are that it can track if the user is sleeping so it could lower the power usage at that period. It can also save battery life when driving since it intuitively knows when you are driving. It then ignores searching for nearest WiFi networks, again saving battey.
"M7 knows when you're walking, running, or even driving," Apple said giving a hint of the M7's wide-range of possible capabilities which could prove to be essential in improving the problematic Apple Maps.
There are 'plans' in the future to integrate the M7 to improve Apple Maps location-based services. Talks have it that it would provide exact locations of the users with the M7, including indoor spaces and even public transits as 9to5Mac reports. The users would be able to track the nearest store, restrooms even know the nearest bus stops and the bus schedule.
With the help of M7, the latest Apple device can track the car wherever it is parked. It registers the car's location after parking which you can track after. This possible feature is both convenient yet a privacy-concerning one, considering the news report on NSA on Apple.
It is believed that the new Maps features would be integrated in the next iOs update. Apple users are certainly eagerly waiting for that. The recent Apple acquisitions, WifiSLAM and HopStop, may also prove beneficial and lead the company into improving their Apple devices.
One future issue though is that the next update would maximize the usage of the M7 but might not be applicable to iPhone's lower models. This is probably one of the reasons why a lot of tech bloggers are saying that the iPhone 5s and 5c are great upgrades for the iPhone.
