iPhone 6 Becomes iPhone Air in New Concept: Next-Gen iPhone Retains iPhone 5S Form-Factor Save for Bigger Screen, More Powerful Specs
This is inevitable - that the next iPhone build will replicate the remarkable engineering displayed by Apple with the iPad Air. Hence we now get a thin and slim iPhone 6 that is fittingly labelled as the iPhone Air on release date.
Note that the term iPhone Air was first used by IBTimes AU in a recent report, and it is exciting a corresponding render of the handset has emerged, which of course is inspired by the incredible device that is the iPad Air - thin and light but oozing with amazing capabilities.
The iPhone Air, according to its creator, smartphone accessories maker FuseChicken, differs no more with the iPhone 5S when it comes to most of the device footprint. It is 123mm tall and 58mm wide, which are the same dimensions seen both in the 5S and the soon-to-retire iPhone 5.
But the similarities stop there, thankfully. The screen is huge enough at 4.9-inch or very close to the just-unveiled Nexus 5. The device is so thin at 4.5mm one wonders how Apple will reconfigure its powerful components placement deep inside.
But then again, this is merely an iPhone visualisation with the pics and a video available by heading out to this link and here.
The pictures showed that the handset is a stunner, shaving off some 40 per cent heft of its predecessor while hosting a powerhouse that is assumed as the A8 processing chip, which of course will flash the same 64-bit computing standard that the iPhone 5S has introduced.
Looking at the front-face, the device is almost all screen with extremely thin bezels on the right and left side of the screen, both measuring only 1mm. At the top portion are the usual camera sensor and phone speaker grills, which have been cramped to the very little space provision.
Down below, the Home button is no longer around. Instead, the concept author thought it wise integrate the freshly-unveiled Touch ID fingerprint scanner into the whole screen mechanism, giving more space for the display panel to be stretched on four directions.
This design language will render the iPhone 6 or iPhone Air with a phablet-size screen minus the hulk-build that many smartphone users find uncomfortable. Per the recent reports, Apple is working on a large-screen iPhone and one of its core emphasis is one-hand use.
This concept definitely adheres to that goal.
Other specs mentioned in the iPhone Air concept includes High Audio Fidelity, 5MP front camera with flash, pairing with Bluetooth headset and capacitive control buttons, which highlighted the possibility that Apple will totally eliminate all moving external parts from the next iPhone.
Apple watchers expect the next iPhone refresh on Sept 2014 but some analysts are setting their sights on a June 2014 release date for the iPhone 6 or iPhone Air.
